Promotions Mark Largest Group of New Partners in Firm's History
FARGO, N.D., May 1, 2009—Eide Bailly LLP, a regional certified public accounting and business advisory firm, has accepted 16 current staff members into the partnership, marking the largest group of partner promotions in the Firm's history. This brings the total number of partners in the nine-state, 19-office firm to 167.
Joining the partnership are: Aaron Ness, Bismarck, N.D.; Scot Phillips and Bobby Lawrence, Boise, Idaho; Chad Flanagan, Lisa Giese, Brad Kelley (principal) and Kirk Lindemann, Fargo, N.D.; Dean Portner, Mankato, Minn.; James Ford, Kim Hunwardsen and Paul Sirek, Minneapolis, Minn.; Greg Jones and Steve Troutman, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Josh Hayes, Phoenix, Ariz.; and John Magnuson and Julie Kafka, Sioux Falls, S.D. Aaron Ness, CPA, Bismarck partner, specializes in providing audit services to clients in various industries, including agriculture processing, real estate and nonprofits. He joined Eide Bailly in 1999 and is a graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Ness is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Dakota Society of CPAs.
Scot Phillips, CPA, Boise partner, provides audit services for governments, nonprofits, employee benefit plans and the manufacturing and retail industries. Phillips is a member of the AICPA, Association of Governmental Accountants and the Idaho Society of CPAs, where he participates on the CPE committee. He received an associate's degree from Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho, and a bachelor's degree from Idaho State University in Pocatello.
Bobby Lawrence, CPA, Boise partner, provides audit and attestation services for a variety of industries, including government and nonprofits. He is a member of the AICPA, Idaho Society of CPAs and the Government Finance Officers Association. Lawrence is a graduate of Boise State University.
Chad Flanagan, CPA, ABV, Fargo partner, serves as Director of Business Valuation for the Firm. He is a member of the AICPA and North Dakota Society of CPAs. He joined Eide Bailly in 1998 and is a graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
Lisa Giese, CPA, Fargo partner, provides attestation and accounting services, focusing on clients in the real estate, health care, nonprofit and benefit plan industries. She is a member of the AICPA, North Dakota Society of CPAs, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Institute of Management Accountants and Young Professionals Network. Giese joined Eide Bailly in 2000 and is a graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
Brad Kelley, AIFA, Fargo principal, serves as Director of Eide Bailly Financial Services. He joined Eide Bailly in 2003 and is a graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
Kirk Lindemann, CPA, Fargo partner, provides general audit services for clients in a variety of industries. He is a member of the AICPA and North Dakota Society of CPAs. Lindemann joined Eide Bailly in 2000 and is a graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo.
Dean Portner, CPA, Mankato partner, specializes in tax planning and compliance, partnerships, FAS 109/FIN 48 and the construction industry. He is a member of the AICPA and Minnesota Society of CPAs. He joined Eide Bailly in 2001 and is a graduate of Minnesota State University-Mankato.
James Ford, CPA, Minneapolis partner, specializes in attestation and accounting services, focusing on the construction, manufacturing and wholesale/distribution industries. He is a member of the AICPA, the Twin Cities Chapter of Construction Financial Management Association and the MN Valley Med Net Organization, and serves as a board member for the nonprofit Dads Make a Difference. Ford joined Eide Bailly in 2000 and is a graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo.
Kim Hunwardsen, CPA, Minneapolis partner, provides tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the nonprofit and health care industries. She is a member of the AICPA, Minnesota Society of CPAs, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Nonprofit Financial Group. Hunwardsen joined the Firm in 2002 and is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Paul Sirek, CPA, Minneapolis partner, focuses on financial institutions taxation and consulting. He is a member of the AICPA, Minnesota Society of CPAs and the Bank Holding Company Association. Sirek received his bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato and a Master of Business Taxation from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Greg Jones, CPA, Oklahoma City partner, specializes in taxation, business valuations, and serving oil and gas, manufacturing and closely-held family business clients. He is a member of the AICPA, Oklahoma Society of CPAs and the Southwestern Oklahoma State Business Advisory Board. Jones holds a bachelor's degree and MBA from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Steve Troutman, CPA, Oklahoma City partner, focuses on tax and transaction planning and consulting, estate planning, retirement planning and small business consulting. He is a member of the AICPA and Oklahoma Society of CPAs. Troutman joined the Firm in 2005 and is a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
Joshua Hayes, CPA, Phoenix partner, serves clients in the manufacturing, transportation and delivery and retail services industries. He specializes in business taxation, focusing on transaction planning and structuring, entity selection, foreign transactions, acquisitions, divestitures and other tax-free corporate reorganizations. Hayes is a member of the Eide Bailly SALT tax committee, the AICPA, and serves on the Legislative Committee of the Arizona Society of CPAs. He also lectures on a variety of tax issues at regional continuing education events. Hayes is a graduate of Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wash.
John Magnuson, CPA, Sioux Falls partner, provides tax consulting services for businesses, including corporations, partnerships and S corporations. His practice emphasis includes general business planning, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, business succession planning, transaction structuring, and qualified and non-qualified retirement plan design. He is a member of the AICPA and South Dakota Society of CPAs. Magnuson joined the Firm in 2004 and is a graduate of Dana College, Blair, Neb.
Julie Kafka, CPA, Sioux Falls partner, provides assurance and tax services, focusing on clients in the real estate and affordable housing industries, and also works with nonprofit organizations. She is an accredited Housing Credit Certified Professional and a National Compliance Professional, Executive. Julie is a member of the AICPA and South Dakota Society of CPAs. She joined Eide Bailly in 1993 and is a graduate of Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D.
